Blowout Prevention & Well Control Training

Produced by Changent Systems, Richardson, TX  for Well Control School of New Orleans, LA. 

Steve Salis was the Instructional Designer, Head Writer, Project Manager and more.  He was involved from the beginning of the 3 year project through final software / content validation and delivery.  He managed and coached a project team that varied in size from 10 to 44 depending on the project phase.  The team consisted of SMEs, tech writers, IDs, graphic and animation folks, custom software developers, content authors, simulation team, software test team, LMS integration team and rollout and support.

This Interactive eLearning course was called "The best interactive training I have ever seen." by a Fortune 50 Chief Technology Officer.

It includes about 40 hours of instruction, testing and simulation on the subject of Well Control.  It is used by Oil Exploration companies around the world.  It contains over 52,000 files (including over 12,000 media files), covers over 2000 topics, has 17 photo realistic simulations and has been translated into Spanish.  

In addition, a comprehensive Learning Management System was also developed to capture student records and generate reports. Data can also be output to an shelf LMS.

This sample course was created using the Rapid Development Tool Articulate 9 Studio.

It was designed and built in a few hours by Steve Salis to showcase the content creation and testing capabilities of Articulate Studio.

Off-shore Crane Operation

This 7 CD-ROM course was produced by Atlantic Richfield, Inc. for a group of 5 major oil exploration companies.

Objective: to train off-shore oil rig personnel to pass the included written certification exam and to prepare for a "hands on" test by allowing users to practice crane operations by using the included 3/D crane simulator.

Steve Salis acted as Project Manager, Instructional Designer, Head Writer and Editor.  He was involved from the very beginning of the project to software and content validation and final delivery.

This 60 minute course was produced for Atlantic Richfield, Inc.

System 21 Produced by Changent Systems, Richardson, TX  for Well Control School of New Orleans, LA.

This course was a follow on to the "Blowout Prevention & Well Control" product.  It includes about 24 hours of content including thousands of test questions and 15 additional photo-realistic simulations.

Objective: To prepare Management and Production Managers to pass the IWCF certification exam designed to assure that the student has skills required to meet International standards.

Steve Salis acted as Project Manager, Instructional Designer, Head Writer and Simulation Designer.

Retail Store Manager Training

Produced for AMPM mini mart in California.

This course is a simulation of what is known in the retail trade as a "Night Ride".  "Shrink", or unexplained inventory loss, is a significant problem for most retailers.  Studies indication that employees theft is a primary cause of "SHRINK".  Many retailers require store managers to-- well spy, on their employees. 

This course includes more than 30 minutes of video and 8 user controllable QTVR panoramic movies.
